With just 8 weeks to go until you stand on the start line, now's the time to fine-tune your pacing. We've teamed up with Runna, the number one rated running coaching app, to share expert pacing tips that'll help you feel strong from your first stride all the way to that iconic finish towards Sunset Beach.
Set a Goal Pace
Choose a realistic finish time based on your current training or past results, then use Runna's pace calculator to lock in your target pace per kilometre. Aim for a 3 to 4 second range on either side to give yourself some breathing room.
Aim for a Negative Split
It's easy to get swept up in the magic of Dubai and blast out of the way too fast. The smartest strategy is to start a touch slower than goal pace, then build through the miles.
You'll enjoy the run so much more and have the energy to power through the final stretch. Trust us, your legs will thank you at kilometre 18.
Practise With a Progression Run
Don't save goal pace for race day. Practise progression runs in training, starting steady and gradually speeding up until the final mile is at, or just faster than, race pace.
This teaches your body to manage effort early on and maintain form under fatigue, giving you the strength to surge in the closing miles when it matters most.

Runna supports you through every tough mile with personalised training sessions and pacing insights that tell you exactly when to hold back and when to push.
