Burj2Burj 2027: Race Policies

Burj2Burj 2027: Refunds, Transfers, and Deferrals

We want your focus to be on your training, not on fine print. However, we know that life can occasionally get in the way of a race day. Whether it is a change in schedule or an unexpected injury, here is the straightforward guide on how we handle entry changes for Burj2Burj 2027.

The Refund Policy

Entry fees for Burj2Burj are non-refundable. This applies to all personal circumstances, including injuries, travel issues, or simply a change of heart. We highly recommend that our international participants take out travel insurance to cover any ancillary costs like flights or accommodation.

Entry Transfers

If you cannot make it to the start line, you are welcome to transfer your entry to another person. This is the best way to ensure your bib stays in the race.

  • Before 4 October 2026: There is an AED 80 fee for requests made by this date.
  • 5 October 2026 to 3 January 2027: The fee increases to AED 120 during this window.
  • The Process: The original registrant must pay the transfer fee. Once the fee is paid, the new runner completes their own registration details.
  • Important: Once an entry is transferred, it cannot be transferred again, refunded, or deferred.

Medical Deferrals

If a medical issue keeps you from running, you can request to defer your entry to Burj2Burj 2028.

  • The Deadline: All requests must be submitted by 3 January 2027.
  • The Fee: There is an AED 80 fee for a medical deferral.
  • The Requirement: You must provide an official medical certificate on clinic or hospital letterhead, signed and stamped by a licensed physician. It must explicitly state that you are medically unfit for endurance running.
  • Limit: Deferrals are valid for the 2028 event only and cannot be used for any other year or transferred to another person.

The Policy on Bib Swapping

This is a safety first rule. Bib swapping or unofficial transfers are strictly prohibited. Your race number is tied to your timing chip and your emergency medical data. If a bib swap is detected, both the original runner and the person wearing the bib will be disqualified and permanently banned from all future Worlds Iconic Events. It creates a serious risk for our medical teams and corrupts the official results. Please use the official transfer process if you cannot run.

How to make a request

For any medical deferral requests, please email team@worldsiconic.com with your registration number and your medical certificate. Our team will review your request and get back to you as soon as possible.
